Our Vineyards. We source only the finest grapes for our wines from a variety of vineyards, either owned by our team or contracted to us. These vineyards have been identified for their capability to produce the quality and quantity of varieties needed for the Night Harvest range. The micro-climate of this site, with its slightly cooler winters and warmer summers brings out the best for this Mediterranean red variety. An organic mulching program is also resulting in some astounding results with Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. Ridge Farm, Willyabrup Located in the dress circle in the centre of the Margaret River region, has a particular track record in high quality Cabernets, Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnays. Our block is on a gentle north facing slope, protected by native forests on the southern side and close to the cooling sea breeze coming in from the southwest. At Rockfield, situated in Karridale at the southernmost end of the Margaret River appellation is where the areas’ premium Sauvignon Blanc fruit is grown, which of course makes up our award winning Five Moons Sauvignon Blanc.

Great wine started in the vineyard

Wine (from Latin vinum) is an alcoholic beverage made from grapes, generally Vitis vinifera, fermented without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes, water, or other nutrients. Yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes and converts it to ethanol and carbon dioxide. Different varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts produce different styles of wine. These variations result from the complex interactions between the biochemical development of the grape, the reactions involved in fermentation and the terroir.

Winemaking

Our wines are essentially 'made in the vineyard', fruit is nurtured and delivered as ripe, fresh grapes in pristine condition to our winemakers. The overall philosophy is to handle the grapes with delicacy and minimal input letting our entire range of wines all carry the imprint of their variety, their site derived from their terroir..

Five Moons Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc 2019. 92 points. Wine Orbit. Bright and fabulously fruited, the wine shows Granny Smith apple, nectarine, kaffir lime and lemon peel aromas on the nose, leading to a vibrant palate that's filled with juicy fruit flavours. It's pristine and inviting with zesty acidity, finishing long and mouth-watering. Excellent quality showing high level of concentration and balance. At its best: now to 2022.

Five Moons Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2017. 92 points Wine Orbit Outstanding quality showing varietal purity and exemplifying regional type. This is splendidly fruited and styled, showing cassis, Black Doris plum, tobacco, anise and roasted nut characters on the nose. The palate offers lovely fruit weight and intensity together with rounded mouthfeel and silky tannins, finishing lingering and delectable. At its best: now to 2023.

John George Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 James Halliday 94 points Estate-grown, matured in French oak for 17 months. Excellent colour; cigar box/cedary oak is the first out of the blocks on a medium-bodied palate; the fruit is relatively delicate, but its red berries are inviting, as are the freshness and length of the palate. Give it a year or two and the oak will back off somewhat.

Five Moons Margaret River Chardonnay 2019. 92 points Wine Orbit. Elegant and charming, the attractively expressed bouquet shows nectarine, fig, lemon pith and subtle nougat characters, leading to a beautifully rounded palate that's creamy and supple. It's delightfully composed and harmonious with a lengthy smooth finish. At its best: now to 2023 Excellent quality showing high level of concentration and balance.

John George Margaret River Shiraz 2013 Huon Hooke. 91 points Deep, dark, rich red colour with the faintest purple tinge, the bouquet chocolaty and rich, sumptuous and supple of texture, the hints of cassis adding a cabernet-like note. Liberal oak has been employed. It's medium to full-bodied and generously endowed with supple, fleshy tannins. Very good, and has potential.
